Couple’s pet snare horror

A couple from the Newcastle Emlyn area were yesterday still distraught at seeing their cat go through the agony of a horrifying death at the weekend.

Pensioner Donald Winsor, of The Willows, Pentrecagal, told the Tivy-Side: “Our pet called Dylan, a four-year-old silver grey tabby, was found caught up in a snare in a hedge near our home on Saturday afternoon.

“By our reckoning the poor thing must have gone through 18 to 20 hours of absolute agony trying to free itself.”

Mr Winsor, a retired printer, said that the incident had left his wife Susan very distressed.

Said her husband: “She hasn’t slept for three nights due to the shock and trauma of seeing her pet strung up in a wire snare.”

“We called in a vet from Newcastle Emlyn but all our efforts came to nothing in the end.”

Matters were reported to the local police and two other snares found nearby were handed to them.

The Winsors are offering a cash reward for any information leading to the identification of the person or persons who set the snares.
