Ref: 01 - Rare Albino badger required dozens of stitches after being caught in a snare at The Mardens, West Sussex in 1995. Treated at Alphapet Veterinary Clinic, Bognor Regis.

Ref: 03 - This badger took refuge in an outside toilet of a Rotherfield Garage at Easebourne, Midhurst, West Sussex on 7th August 1998. It had escaped from a snare that had injured its neck. The resulting foul smelling wound had weakened it and it had probably been forced out of the sett by a dominant boar.

Ref: 05 - 27 May 1995. Slindon, West Sussex. This deer was discovered dead. It had dragged a snare and a pole for an unknown distance before snagging on a tree.
Ref: 06 - September 1996 near Kingly Vale. Investigating the above incident, we found several snares around a pheasant pen nearby. They were illegal self-locking, and attached to flimsy poles.
Ref: 07 - This badger dragged the attached pole and snare hundreds of yards before being strangled on the Goodwood Estate, W. Sussex on 13 May 1996. A post mortem showed a snaring injury from a year before which had fractured the sternebrae. Post mortem by Richard Edwards, MSc MA VetMB MRCVS. He stated: "I believe that this animal underwent a considerable degree of suffering."
Ref: 08 - This badger was found by the side of the road in June 2001, Egton Whitby. It had been seriously injured by a snare. Source: Rydale Badger Group.
Ref: 09 - This badger was discovered knocked down on the road with a snare cut off, but still around its middle near Kingly Vale, Chichester, West Sussex. 11th September 1996.

Ref: 12 - This badger was found alive at Lodsworth, W. Sussex with a punctured windpipe, deep neck wound and scalped. Free- running snares were found nearby around a pheasant pen. A gamekeeper's discarded snares were found with several frayed and twisted snares, including animal flesh and badger hair in the strands.
