As in England and Wales we find senior establishment politicians (who call themselves 'progressives') being the mouthpieces of the tawdry, cowardly shooting lobby who engage in blasting birds from the sky for so called 'sport'.
Tv Star Annette Crosbie and Queen guitarist Brian May had urged the Scottish Government to introduce a ban on the use of snares.
Crosbie, who starred in the BBC sitcom One Foot in the Grave, and who is also an animal rights campaigner, branded snares as "cruel, archaic devices".
The actress spoke out ahead of a statement on the issue by Environment Minister Mike Russell to the Scottish Parliament this week.
An opinion poll has revealed that only 19% of the Scottish public are aware that snares are still legal. Most people presumed that they had already been banned. Once informed that snares are still legal, 75% of people thought they should be banned.
